A few kilometers away from ancient Dodoni, on the slope of mt. Tomaros (Olytsika) spreads the beautiful village of Meligi. There, near the church and the cypress-tree where St. Kosmas spoke to the people the Folk museum is housed . For about 10 years hard-working inhabitants had been collecting rich material in order to save the cultural heritage of the greater area of Dodoni and of the area called "Little Lakka Souliou".
The fraternity administrative council inaugurated the museum in 1994. Many foreign visitors visit the Folk museum after they have visited Dodoni. The visitors are impressed by the hospitality of the inhabitants and they taste tsipouro and delicious titbits. But what impresses them most is the French-speaking THEO (Haris Sakas). He had been living in Belgium for years and plays a leading role at his village. At the museum you can see : traditional tools, articles of clothing, weaving, cottage industry tools, belts, furniture and utensils of the agricultural kitchen.
Today, the museum belongs to the Cultural centre of Meligi municipal department of Dodoni's municipality. Person in charge of the museum Cultural's centre management: Folk Museum |
