The Foundation Activities


From I.B.E. Publishing

After I.B.E. was created, the Cultural Center of Northern Epirus was raised in the capital of the united Epirus which was a bright light in Northern Epirus.

  • The collections of I.B.E. that are constantly being enriched are exhibited in a permanent exhibition at its facilities. This exhibition shows the ethnological character, the Culture, the Arts, the Education and the National battles that the Northern Epirus people had to give and is considered to be a scientific study. Special position at this exhibition are held by : a) Maps, b) Books, c) Photographic Documents, d) Historical Records and e) Folklore material. I.B.E. wishes and tries to make Northern Epirus known to the many Greeks and foreign visitors as well as the special researchers.
  • The Foundation research expands in every field of Traditional Culture and History of Northern Epirus, using right recordings and studies and developing the ethnographic recourses especially in the field of national costumes, polyphonic folk songs and dances, popular art and architecture, linguistic material, morals and traditions, etc.
  • The publications, the production of records with folk songs on them, the cassettes, the cards, the posters and the maps are elements of one field in which the foundation has developed an intense and creative activity. Among its publications, there are the books:

  • The cultural events of the Foundation are lectures, speeches, seminars, exhibitions, competitions, books and tasks' reward etc. I.B.E. also takes part in folklore symposiums and every event that has to do with Northern Epirus generally.

  • There is a small shop in the Foundation which aids in covering the financial needs by selling books, cards, cassettes etc.
  • There is also free lending library and wardrobe and faithful copies of old costumes are made.
