The region

Papigo is one of the most beautiful villages of Zagoria and it is built under the imposing massif of Astraka (2436 metres). It is 62 km from Ioannina and it is situated 980 metres above the sea level. It consists of two settlements, Mikro and Megalo Papigo.

The houses which are built of stone with a special architecture from Zagoria and the cobbled streets in combination with the greenery of the landscape, create a magic picture and compose a pleasant, new experience for the visitor.

The Authorities in charge have described the two settlements as preserved. Papigo is situated at the centre of Vikos - Aoos National Park with the rich flora and fauna.
