Papigo & Zagorohoria villages - The area

Papigo is one of the most picturesque villages of Zagori built under the bulk of Mount Astraka (2.436 m.). It is located at a distance of 62 km. from Ioannina at an altitude of 980 m. It is consisted of two settlements, Mikro Papigo and Megalo Papigo.
The houses are stone-built according to the special architecture of Zagori area. The stone-paved streets in a combination with the rich flora of the landscape, create a magnificent image and compose a pleasant experience for the visitor.
The state authorities have characterized the two settlements as protected areas. Papigo is located in the centre of the National Park Vikos - Aoos with its rich flora and fauna.

How you will get to Papigo:
To get to the region, you follow the main national roads that lead to Ioannina city and after you go north to the city of Ioannina (through the national road of Ioannina - Konitsa).
